TO THE AIRPORTS
Allow enough travel time and wait time.
The TSA urges all travelers to arrive at the airport well in advance of scheduled flight departures and has provided security checkpoint wait time information as a guide to assist in travel planning. Please be sure to check with your airline for ticket counter wait times as well as possible changes to flight schedules, as these and other factors influence your decision regarding how early to arrive at the airport.
Plan to leave plenty of time for travel to airports and and processing of baggage and security upon arrival at the airport. Travel times to the airports vary widely depending on day of the week, time of day, construction and other factors. Airport/airline recommended lead times for arrival at the airport also vary depending on destination, airline, security level and other factors. Call your airline for their current recommendation on advance arrival time and leave yourself plenty of travel time. Allow
extra travel time to accomodate cab availability, and
weather or traffic problems, especially during holidays and heavy traffic periods. American Taxi Dispatch, Inc. is not responsible for airline connections.
FROM THE AIRPORTS
No Advance Reservations are accepted at either airports. Our cabs are in the Staging Area of the airport at All Times (24 hours a day)
Before ordering a cab from either O'Hare or Midway, we ask that you have your baggage in hand. The airport police will not let drivers wait - YOUR TAXI SHOULD USUALLY ARRIVE WITHIN 5 - 10 MINUTES but if circumstances extend the usual time frame the automated system or phone operator will advise of likely travel times as you place your order. Hanging up early on the order placement may prevent you from hearing this advisory.
Make sure you get into a licensed AMERICAN TAXI DISPATCH, INC. taxicab.
Make sure you remember the taxicab number assigned to you to ensure that you get into a licensed AMERICAN TAXI DISPATCH, INC. taxi and not a look alike cab. The driver will have your name on the pager.
Please take only your assigned cab number. When you enter your AMERICAN TAXI DISPATCH, INC. vehicle, note the card on the headrest of the passenger front seat. Facing you will be cards indicating the cab number you're riding in, some fare information, and other specifics. In some vehicles (vans) there will be two cards, one located on each door in the passenger area. Also, please note that the left window carries a "flat rate sheet" delineating our rate structure and what you should expect to pay for your trip to the suburbs. Finally, we at AMERICAN TAXI DISPATCH, INC. would like to remind all of our passengers to "Check before you exit for personal belongings." We want to welcome you to Chicago whether your "coming home" or visiting our great city and suburban locations .
Be careful when entering or exiting a cab to make sure you do not walk in front of oncoming traffic or any other hazard. Exit at curbside when it is safe to do so. Do not cross in front of or behind your cab. Look both ways. Watch your footing and make sure you are in a secure and steady position before handling luggage. While your driver will probably try to assist you, remember that your safety and the safety of your children are your responsibility.
Please be sure to gather any items you may have brought into the vehicle with you. Leaving your phone, wallet, or any other personal item can cause you unnecessary worry and expense.
City Cabs vs Suburban Cabs
The City of Chicago Airports strictly forbids any curbside solicitation of passengers. The Taxicabs going to the City of Chicago "stage" at each terminal. While city cabs are a quick departure opportunity, they will charge "meter and a half" if your destination is outside the city limits, to the suburbs. This is compensation for the fact that that cab has almost no way of riding back to the airport with a fare - the driver is on a one-way trip.
All suburban cabs are operated as pre-arranged rides, or dispatched rides. The suburban taxis are called to the terminals for a specific passenger(s). AMERICAN TAXI DISPATCH, INC. serves all of your suburban locations. Once you have collected your luggage, please call and a taxi will be dispatched to pick you up. Call 847-255-9600 or use the free phones located in the baggage areas (lower level) at each terminal in O'Hare and Midway, or touch screen kiosks located in the baggage areas in O'Hare. Your taxicab can usually be at the curb in 10 minutes or so from the time of your call, unless you are told otherwise. During "peak" travel times there are delays caused by the high volume of traffic entering the terminals. Due to security procedures in place at this time, your assigned vehicle cannot, by law, wait at the curb for you. The driver will re-circulate if you are not at the curb when he arrives.

Please do not be confused by all the look alike companies.
Because many of these companies change their signs often, we cannot always get an updated photo for your review. Our design is limited by our need to use our registered logo as is and therefore cannot enlarge our sign logo to compete with these other companies. We use a photo of our taxis because only our taxicabs are so throughly marked. Please note, if you get into an "American" taxi/cab/limo, and it does not have our taxicab signage, you have not gotten into one of our dispatched taxis and may be charged a different rate.
Very poor volume is being reported by many of our customers at the kiosks, so please be prepared to use your cell phone or a pay phone and call 847-255-9600 if you cannot hear our information. We have been working with Clear Channel and the airport to correct this problem and it seems to be very complicated. |

We are not affilated with any other taxi/cab/limo company using "American" and are currently in litigation to get the companies to honor our trademark and these signs removed from the kiosks.
If you experience any confusion or take a taxi other than what you thought was ours, please e-mail us with your story.
